Introduction from Jeff Fiorentino
"Shred
Zeppelin"
as the track note on the song's SoundCloud page indicates was produced for a
documentary that a good friend of mine is working on. When she agreed
to allow me to share it on my SoundCloud with all of you we had no idea at
the time that it would break all download and play records previously held
by either myself or JFRocks.com. I appreciate the support very much
though, that's very cool, and I'm glad everyone dug the song so much.
All of that said "Shred
Zeppelin" (Click
here to download, stream, or read about) is based on a few
different Led Zeppelin tracks. HeartBreaker, Dancing Days, Dazed and
Confused, and Song Remains the Same. Now the Zep angle on all of this
was intentional on my part as that's what the "client" i.e. my friend wanted
and hired me to produce. It's good to note for JFRocks.com fans that
no lesson was ever planned for this track. It is only by overwhelming
POPULAR DEMAND that this song is tabbed and there is a lesson for it.
The real "Lesson" here is in the subtleties of the riffing, and the solo.
There are as I talk about on the JFRocks Led Zeppelin style guitar lesson
package many go-to things that Page like to "go-to" and use often. But
beyond that there are the little things. The way notes are bent, or
bent with vibrato such as in the main theme riff etc.
I'll do my best on the video lesson to walk you through the tabs. But
a lot of the leg-work will be up to you to see how I manipulated some
things. Such as the verse which has some Dancing Days elements to it
with a little Zep 1 on top of it all.. Overall "Shred Zeppelin" is a
great example of a "Zep'ized Original" much the way I do "Van Halen'ized
Originals"...

The tempo is changed a bit for the first part of the solo, which is
double-time feel. The double-time half is done over a bass riff in
"E" that's similar to the solo break in Dazed and Confused. The 2nd half
of the solo is over the main theme riff ("A" version only),
