Lesson Introduction from Jeff Fiorentino

This lesson is part 5 in our online "Surfalicious" Guitar Lesson series.. Surf music has many variations, which is probably why it's one of my favorite genres of music to play and write. That said, this incarnation of "Surf" is a hard rock neo-classical influenced piece. The song is "Surf" not so much because of the beat this time around, the beat to this track is more of a Hot for Teacher type shuffle. Rather, it's "Surf" in vibe and feel because of the riffing, which is rooted around some of the classic things we've been discussing about surf music in this lesson series. Namely, using half-step intervals and "1, m6, 5" type chord changes.

But the "Surf" feel in this track also comes from how the riffing is approached and/or attacked.. It's a very bitchy hen-pecked attack.
The guitar is almost attacked by the pick almost in the way a surfer approaches or attacks a wave. On the video guitar lesson, we'll go over the TABs for the track, I'll walk you through the guitar solo, and we'll also talk more about some of these "attack" concepts.

SOLO

The solo to this track is a neo-classical style lead with Surfalicious vibe.. This is not an easy solo as it requires some quirkiness on your part..
